Mission and Vision
The Mission of PFLAG is to create a caring, just, and affirming world for LGBTQ+ people and those who love them. We envision an equitable, inclusive world where every LGBTQ+ person is safe, celebrated, empowered, and loved.
We work towards this mission by creating opportunities to support LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, educate about issues facing the LGBTQ+ community, and advocate on behalf of the LGBTQ+ community at the local and national level.

History
The Las Cruces PFLAG Chapter was founded in 1995 by community members Sue Brown and Bill Soules (now a NM State Senator) who both saw a need for supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and their families in the region. For over 25 years, the leaders and volunteers of PFLAG have worked with many community partners to create a safe and inclusive community here in Las Cruces and the surrounding region.
Recent Projects
In recent years, PFLAG Las Cruces has worked to support LGBTQ+ immigrants seeking asylum through our Rainbow Refugee Project and supply local libraries with LGBTQ+ focused books for children and youth through our Rural Reading Rainbow Project. We have also initiated the Safe Space Fund to assist the local LGBTQ+ community with emergency needs. You can find the application for this fund here
Most recently, we have partnered with Friends of the Organ Mountains and other community groups to provide regular hiking and biking gatherings for the LGBTQ+ and Ally community. Check out our News and Updates section for the next event!
